The Mt Laurel Spring Festival will return again on Saturday, April 11th, 2015, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mt Laurel's Spring Festival is a family-friendly event that offers plenty of activities to entertain children, including inflatables, hay-rides, face painting, and a petting zoo.
Children can also enjoy the playground at Olmsted Park. This year's festivities also include food from Jim 'N Nick's, food trucks, crafts from local vendors, live music, and fresh fruits and vegetables from local farmers.
With jewelry, art, flowers, and handcrafted goods available from more than 150 vendors, the Mt Laurel Spring Festival truly celebrates the bounty of the season. Come join us at the Mt Laurel Spring Festival on April 11th.

Join the Chamber's Existing Industry & Business Work Group at its first Quarterly Industry Tour of 2015 on April 16. The Industry Tour -- sponsored by Barge, Waggoner, Sumner & Cannon -- will be held from 9:00AM until 11:00AM at Grede, 130 Industrial Park Road, Columbiana, AL 35051-9359. Participants are asked to meet on-site to tour the facility.
The iron foundry uses the Lost Foam Casting process to create parts for the automotive, heavy truck, agricultural and construction equipment markets.
Grede is the largest manufacturing employer in Columbiana. This specific operation dates back to the early ‘60’s when it began as Simsco. Today, their customers are some of the most recognized and successful equipment manufacturers in the world.
On your visit, there will be a short brief on the overall business followed by a walking tour of the facilities. Reservations are requested by April 13 and the tour is limited to 20 attendees. The program, sponsored by Legacy Community Federal Credit Union, is an opportunity for business professionals to share 1/2 - 1 day with students the education and/ or training requirements, salary range, workplace expectations and more in needed to be employed in your respective field.

| Jubilee Joe's is bringing Bourbon Street to Pelham on Saturday, April 25th for the 8th Annual Jubilee Joe's Crawfish Boil Presented by Pepsi. The event will return to the Pelham Event Center from 1:30pm-10:00pm and feature a "Touch of New Orleans" this year. Event organizers are working with local scenic muralist Patricia Martin to construct and paint a 115 foot long x 15 foot high mural of Bourbon Street. "The idea is for patrons to feel like they are sitting on Bourbon Street listening to some great music even though they are 300 miles away. We wanted to try and go a little over the top this year and bring something special to the event", said Sharmeen Mashiatulla, one of the event organizers. It will be a fun relaxing event for the entire family with talented award winning local and national musicians. This year's headliner is the nationally known band Sister Hazel with thousands of loyal fans throughout the Birmingham area. Cajun/Zydeco dance instructors will be on hand interacting and teaching the crowd dance moves along with street performers including a fire dancer, magician, flow artist, statue men, stilt walker, juggler, tarot card reader, face painter and caricature artist. There will also be a variety of vendors at the event selling merchandise. There is something to do for the entire family including a large kids corner with activities and games including a crawfish race. Children 10 and under can enter the festival at no charge when accompanied by an adult with a paid ticket. The event will also feature thousands of pounds of fresh Louisiana crawfish from Jubilee Joe's restaurant. The Greater Shelby County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce its 2nd annual Educator of the Year recognition program. Educators play a vital role in the lives of Shelby County children, impact our communities every day and help develop the workforce which our Shelby County businesses and organizations will need in the years ahead. As such, the Chamber launched this recognition program to celebrate excellence in the teaching profession and inform our community of the exceptional quality of instruction delivered throughout Shelby County. All nominees will be recognized and two recipients (elementary and secondary educator) will receive a one-time financial investment to assist their continuing development.
Also, the Chamber is pleased to announce its 2nd annual Student of the Year recognition program. Shelby County students are our potential business and community leaders and will comprise a significant portion of our workforce in the future. As such, the Chamber launched this recognition program to celebrate student excellence in the classroom throughout Shelby County. All nominees will be recognized and two recipients (college track and career track student) will receive a one-time financial investment to assist their continuing development.
The Chamber will recognize all nominations and announce the recipients at the April 29 membership luncheon which is sponsored by America's First Federal Credit Union.
