Apr 25 Greater Shelby Chamber Workshop - Unlocking Problem-Solving Abilities on Your Team |
Greater Shelby Chamber Workshop:
Unlocking Problem-Solving Abilities on Your Team
An Interactive Workshop Facilitated by Johnny Carcioppolo of
A major challenge faced by many organizational leaders is their own tendency to be hands-on problem solvers. this skill may have contributed to their promotion to management, but it can easily become a limitation. Effective leaders know that their primary role is not to solve problems but to unleash the problem-solving capacity of those around them. Until they gain this skill, they are functioning as "worker bees" instead of leaders.
Come join us for this interactive workshop where you will learn to unlock the problem-solving capacity of others by incorporating coaching into your leadership style.
The areas we will cover in applying a coaching leadership style include:
o Adopting the coaching mindset – the advantages of moving from a problem-solving mindset to a coaching mindset.
o The 5 functions of Navigational Coaching - understanding what a leader is trying to achieve through coaching.
o Understanding the principles that define the process
o Having a structure to manage coaching conversations effectively
o Being a good listener – exploring 3 different levels of listening
o Asking powerful questions – exploring the 3 intentions behind asking questions
o Giving effective positive feedback
o Giving corrective feedback that people can hear non-defensively
o Being able to share useful perspectives and wisdom
The workshop facilitated by Johnny Carcioppolo with FocalPoint Coaching -- will be held on April 25 from 8:30AM-10:00AM at the Chamber. There is no cost to attend.

Apr 25 ALWIB April Meeting - Am I My Sister’s Keeper? By Debra Nelson |
We may have all read Facebook’s COO Sheryl Sandberg’s 2013 best seller Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead, but do we really know how to “lean in” to help our “sisters” — our women friends and colleagues? Do we know what it looks like to help each other? Let’s talk about our behaviors and how we support each other in work and personal situations. Let’s talk about stepping out of our comfort zones, being a role model, mentoring or sponsoring someone, and taking a risk by helping other women be successful in their careers. Join us as Debra Nelson, Corporate Communications and Diversity & Inclusion Executive at Brasfield & Gorrie, LLC discusses this very important topic! |
