JOB TITLE: Caregiver REPORTS TO: Staffing Coordinator STATUS: Non-Exempt Description This position works under the supervision of the Supervising Nurse and/or Administrator and performs tasks that contribute to Client’s comfort and safety in the home. QUALIFICATIONS: · Must have excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills. · High school graduate or equivalent. · Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age. · A minimum of six (6) months of full-time experience in an agency or private setting performing direct client personal assistance or a minimum of six (6) months of full-time experience in direct client care in an institutional setting.. · Demonstrate ability to read and write English, follow a written Care Plan, and document tasks performed. · Be self-directed and work with minimal supervision. · Demonstrate dependability, tact, patience, and the ability to follow instructions. · Must possess a valid Alabama Driver’s License and proof of valid automobile liability insurance. · Must be capable of performing the job functions of this position with or without accommodations. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: · Functions within the limitations of the individual assignment. · Attends to the client’s requests promptly. · Assists with meal planning and preparation, light housekeeping, personal care and transportation. · Assists client to live in a clean, safe environment by: providing light housekeeping; running personal errands, per client and agency request; doing laundry, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming and dusting; and changing bed linens. · Knows and follows universal precautions, methods of compliance, exposure control plans, and infection control policies. · Maintains appropriate communication with the Administrator (verbal) and with all members of the interdisciplinary team. · Documents care given and pertinent observations accurately as directed by the Care Plan and Administrator. · Treats everyone with respect. Maintains confidentiality. · Accepts and fulfills assignments with the agency. Exercises good judgment in accepting assignments. · Attends required in-service programs per agency policy. · Adheres to all of the Company’s policies and procedures. · Performs other duties as assigned.
