Tom has long been active in the American Trucking Associations\, the Truckload Carriers Association (TCA)\, and the Alabama Trucking Association and has held leadership positions in the same. He is a thought leader in the transportation industry\, specifically on the use of current and upcoming information technology to support trucking and freight brokerage operations. Tom is a past Chairman of the TCA Scholarship Fund\, past Board President of the Birmingham Boys Choir\, and current Chairman of the Alabama Trucking Association. Tom graduated from W. A. Berry High School in 1972 and from Samford University (cum laude) in 1976.
