DESCRIPTION:Seeking Volunteers for "Keeping It Real" Program at Chelsea High School\n\n\n\nChelsea High School freshman will get a perspective of what it cost to live in the adult world when the Greater Shelby County Chamber of Commerce brings its ShelbyOne Initiative program "Keeping it Real" to the school on March 11 & 12.\n\n\n\nThe first day students learn the difference between gross and net income and the importance of budgeting.\n\n\n\nThe second day students visit 12 stations with their income worksheets to pay bills that corresponded with expenses. Volunteers are needed on the second day only -- Thursday\, March 12.\n\n\n\nThe program is co-sponsored by The UPS Store Caldwell Mill Road and Legacy Community Federal Credit Union.\n\n\n\nKeyla Handley\, Community and Workforce Development Director\, is seeking volunteers for 1/2 - one day on Thursday\, March 12. Volunteers will manage a station (Ex: housing\, groceries\, clothing\, insurance\, education\, child care\, etc.) to assist 9th grade students as they "pay bills" and make "life choices" based on a random-assigned life scenario.\n\n\n\nIf you are interested in being a volunteer for a few hours or the day\, please call 663-4542 or email Keyla.\n\n\n\nVolunteers would arrive as early as 7:30AM and the program would conclude by 3:00PM. Lunch is provided for all volunteers.
