DESCRIPTION:Seeking Volunteers for "Keeping It Real" Program at Oak Mountain High School.\n\n\n\nOak Mountain High School freshman will get a perspective of what it cost to live in the adult world when the Greater Shelby County Chamber of Commerce brings its ShelbyOne Initiative program "Keeping it Real" to the school on October 26th.\n\n.\n\nThe first day students learn the difference between gross and net income and the importance of budgeting.\n\n\n\nThe second day students visit 12 stations with their income worksheets to pay bills that corresponded with expenses. Volunteers are needed on the second day only.\n\n\n\nThe program is presented by Thompson Tractor and co-sponsored by America's First Federal Credit Union\, AT&t and The UPS Store Caldwell Mill Road.\n\n\n\nKeyla Handley\, Community and Investor Development Director\, is seeking volunteers for 1/2 - one day on Friday\, October 26. Volunteers will manage a station (Ex: housing\, groceries\, clothing\, insurance\, education\, child care\, etc.) to assist 9th grade students as they "pay bills" and make "life choices" based on a random-assigned life scenario.\n\n\n\nIf you are interested in being a volunteer for a few hours or the day\, please register now or call 663-4542 or email Keyla.\n\n\n\nVolunteers would arrive at Oak Mountain High School as early as 7:30AM and the program would conclude by 3:00PM. Lunch is provided for all volunteers.
