DESCRIPTION:Seeking Volunteers for "Keeping It Real" Program at Shelby County High School\n\n\n\nShelby County High School freshman will get a perspective of what it cost to live in the adult world when the The Shelby County Chamber of Commerce brings its ShelbyOne Initiative program "Keeping it Real" to the school on January 16th and 17th.\n\n\n\nThe first day students learn the difference between gross and net income and the importance of budgeting.\n\n\n\nThe second day students visit 12 stations with their income worksheets to pay bills that corresponded with expenses. Volunteers are needed on the second day only.\n\n\n\nThe program is sponsored by Thompson Tractor and co-sponsored by The UPS Store Caldwell Mill Road\, American's First Federal Credit Union & AT&T.\n\n\n\nPari Barzegari\, Manager\, Community & Career Development\, is seeking volunteers on January 17th. Volunteers will manage a station (Ex: housing\, groceries\, clothing\, insurance\, education\, child care\, etc.) to assist 9th grade students as they "pay bills" and make "life choices" based on a random-assigned life scenario.\n\n\n\nIf you are interested in being a volunteer for a few hours or the day\, please register now or call 663-4542 or email pari@shelbychamber.com.\n\n\n\nVolunteers would arrive at Shelby County High School at 7:30AM and the program would conclude by 3:00PM. Lunch is provided for volunteers.
