4th Annual Southern Cookin’ Showdown
SafeHouse of Shelby County, a 501 (c)3 United Way agency, is a full-service domestic violence and sexual assault response center. An estimated 5,000 people have received assistance since its founding in 1989 by a group of dedicated members of the community. SafeHouse services include a 24/7 crisis hotline, 56 bed emergency shelter, case management, counseling, legal advocacy, community education, sexual assault forensic exams and domestic violence medical exams. SafeHouse serves Shelby, Clay, Coosa, and Chilton counties. The 4th Annual Southern Cookin’ Showdown is more than a fundraiser; it is a time for the community to come together for food, fun and friendly competition. The cooking competition will feature four-member teams of both amateurs and professionals competing in categories including Sweets, Meats, and Fixins. A panel of judges will determine winners in each category, and guests at the event may sample all of the entries and vote for the People’s Choice Award. Team fees are waved for First Responders! Free admission for kids who are 10 and under. Live Music and Kid’s activities! Either way, we’ll see you at the 4th Annual Southern Cookin’ Showdown April 25th at Pelham Park from 11AM-2PM. All proceeds benefit SafeHouse of Shelby County.
