Owens House, the Shelby County Advocacy Center in conjunction with Family Connection, Inc. is coordinating the annual Blue Ribbon Campaign to increase community awareness. Blue Ribbons are used to signify the fight to protect our children. Owens House and Family Connection staff members will be distributing blue ribbons to Shelby County businesses, schools, and churches the during the month of April.
Owens House serves the needs of victimized children and their families by working closely with public and private agencies to coordinate the Shelby County community’s response to the problem of child abuse. This community approach provides a positive resolution of a greater number of cases while more offenders are held accountable for their crimes.
Family Connection serves the needs of youths through emergency shelter and group home services. Family Connection operates the local Project Safe Place, which is a nationwide network of businesses where youths experiencing a crisis situation can go to receive immediate help and safety. Individuals interested in learning more about the Blue Ribbon Campaign contact Owens House at 669-3333.
