Greater Shelby Chamber - Keeping It Real @ Oak Mountain High School
Seeking Volunteers for "Keeping It Real" Program at Oak Mountain High School.
Oak Mountain High School freshman will get a perspective of what it cost to live in the adult world when the Greater Shelby County Chamber of Commerce brings its ShelbyOne Initiative program "Keeping it Real" to the school on November 2 & 3.

The first day students learn the difference between gross and net income and the importance of budgeting.
The second day students visit 12 stations with their income worksheets to pay bills that corresponded with expenses. Volunteers are needed on the second day only.
The program is co-sponsored by The UPS Store Caldwell Mill Road and Eco Credit Union Foundation.
Keyla Handley, Community and Investor Development Director, is seeking volunteers for 1/2 - one day on Friday, November 3. Volunteers will manage a station (Ex: housing, groceries, clothing, insurance, education, child care, etc.) to assist 9th grade students as they "pay bills" and make "life choices" based on a random-assigned life scenario.

Volunteers would arrive at Oak Mountain High School as early as 7:30AM and the program would conclude by 3:00PM. Lunch is provided for all volunteers.
