GSC ~ Shelby County Technology Week - Tour the Microsoft Truck Feb. 21, 2008
Everyone seems overwhelmed with wanting to grow their business and also staying ahead of the technology curve. What is a businessperson to do? The Greater Shelby County Chamber of Commerce can help answer that question.
The Shelby County Commission issued a proclamation designating February 18-22, 2008, as Shelby County Technology Week. The Chamber’s CIC (Commerce & Innovation Center) is highlighting the importance of technology in the workplace during that week and is providing an opportunity for the general public to learn about the latest Microsoft products.
Microsoft is bringing a demonstration truck to the North Shelby Library, 5521 Cahaba Valley Road, on Thursday, February 21st, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Prior to the Microsoft demonstration, the Chamber is hosting SpeedNetworking for Professionals, also at the library. At SpeedNetworking, participants “network” in a high-energy manner. Speednetworking begins at 8:30 a.m.
To register for SpeedNetworking for Professionals click here, to register for the Microsoft Across America Truck click here or call the Chamber at (205) 663-4542 or send an email to april@shelbychamber.org.
During the SpeedNetworking event, attendees also will hear “How to Take Your Networking to the Next Level.” Tours of the Microsoft truck will begin at 9 a.m. and are free to the general public.
Some of the products that will be featured on the truck are Microsoft Small Business Server 2003 and Microsoft Office 2007 Small Business Edition. The Small Business Server product is a total solution that provides small businesses with the benefits of a domain based computer network including file sharing, network printing services, corporate e-mail hosting and network security at a very affordable price. The Microsoft Office 2007 product includes software for word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, desktop publishing, business presentations, contact management and basic accounting. A Microsoft technology specialist, as well as staff from Cahaba Valley Computer Service, LLC, will be available to demonstrate these technology products.
There will be giveaways during the event.
