Kanawahala Program Center to Hold Open House
Kanawahala Program Center (KPC) will hold an Open House on Sunday, March 27 from 2 to 4 PM. Parents and children can explore all the offerings of KPC’s summer camp and participate in fun activities. Bring a fishing rod and fish on beautiful Lake Alice (no live minnows), try archery and see the camp on the Hayless Hayride. KPC has summer camp programs available to boys and girls. You do not have to be a registered Girl Scout to participate.
KPC is located just off Highway 280 in Chelsea on 600 acres of land. It is made for girls who love water activities with its 40-acre private lake and junior Olympic-sized swimming pool. There's mountain biking and a 35-foot climbing tower with attached high and low ropes course elements to offer you challenging and adventurous activities.
Resident camp sessions include learning to ride and care for horses in addition to creative camps where girls practice cake-decorating skills, Tie-dying clothes or making jewelry. Girls could also have opportunities to run the zip line at night or solve a camp mystery! Both day camps and resident camps are available; Resident camps are available only to girls, while day camps are available for girls and boys. Activities can include swimming, canoeing, hiking, horseback riding, archery, rock climbing and high ropes. Everyone who comes to camp enjoys balanced meals with plenty of healthy choices while participating in activities that offer planned opportunities for campers to practice teamwork and decision making.
Registration is online now at www.girlscoutsnca.org/camps. For information on KPC, call 800-734-4541 x1601 or visit www.girlscoutsnca.org/kpc. KPC is located at 831 Girl Scout Road, Chelsea, AL 35043.
