South Shelby Weather and Safety Expo

(Columbiana, AL) The City of Columbiana and the South Shelby Chamber of Commerce is hosting a “First Annual South Shelby Weather & Safety Expo 2012” on July 12, 2012. The First Annual South Shelby Weather and Safety Expo will be held at the Shelby County Exhibition Center (86 Argo Road/Kelley Drive) in Columbiana, AL. on Thursday, July 12, 2012. The event will be free admission to the public from 1:00pm to 8:00pm with our speaker and presenter program starting at 4:00pm. We are working to confirm speakers but it looks to be very exciting and informative. At this event there will be information on how to prepare for and respond to inclement weather and damage that may result from it. This information will be provided by Columbiana City Departments, some Shelby County Departments, weather alert providers, local media and various vendors to help area citizens be prepared. Programming for weather radios and assistance in developing a written disaster plan will be available. Some of the informative presenters are Cathy Laminack, Alabama Power Company; Steve Taylor, Saf-T-Net(weather alert system); Mayor Allan Lowe, Sheriff Chris Curry of Shelby County; James Paul Dice, Chief Meteorologist from Fox 6 who will be broadcasting live and showcasing the Fox 6(Storm Tracker), Marvin Copes, Yellow Dot Program and others to be announced soon. Concessions will be available by Johnny Rays and door prizes to be given away.
