Self-employed individuals have the opportunity to learn financial management skills, how to organize tax records and get help for next tax season at a free seminar entitled Your Business and Taxes, provided by United Way of Central Alabama and the National Fund for Enterprise Development.
Your Business and Taxes includes three sessions that provide tools to help self-employed, small business owners become knowledgeable on tax law and tax preparation. As part of the process, qualifying participants meet one-on-one with a professional accountant, and starting January 18, receive free assistance preparing their tax returns.
“Many unemployed and underemployed individuals are now turning to self-employment income to replace income from a job loss or reduced hours. This program is available to individuals who have more than one income source,” said Drew Langloh, President and CEO of United Way of Central Alabama.
Your Business and Taxes seminars are free and open to self-employed individuals, with no employees and adjusted gross income below $58,000. This includes independent contractors who receive a 1099-MISC instead of a W-2 tax statement at year end. To register visit
