Greater Shelby Chamber ~ Annual Prayer Breakfast
Greater Shelby County Chamber of Commerce Annual Prayer Breakfast
The Annual Prayer Breakfast is designed for members to come together to fellowship, celebrate, and give thanks for our many blessings. It’s also a time to reflect on what’s truly important in life and what inspires us to make a difference in the lives of others.
Join us in welcoming our keynote speaker, Ward Williams, Executive Director at Vineyard Family Services (VFS).
What is (VFS)?
VFS works to decrease the effects of father absence by feeding kids in need, promoting responsible fatherhood & aiding families in crisis.
BackPack Buddies Program -- VFS Millions of children in the U.S. count on the free and reduced meals available at school to alleviate their hunger. During weekends and holidays, The BackPack Buddies Program helps meet their needs by providing children ages 5-12 with nutritious and easy-to-prepare food that they can take home when other resources aren’t always available.
With the help of many partners, grants and community efforts and with the assistance of our local guidance counselors in the Shelby County School System, our program targets children who may be “at risk” for food insecurity. We are now feeding over 200 children weekly but we have many more waiting to be helped. The smallest amount can make a huge difference!
F.I.T. Dad Program -- The F.I.T. Dad Program is provided to noncustodial fathers in Shelby County but any father who wants to improve their parenting skills is welcome. This is a second chance for men to be successful fathers by supporting their families financially, morally and emotionally. Besides providing a supportive and safe environment for men to become better dads, our goal is to protect and improve children’s lives through educating and helping their parents.
Co-Parenting Plan -- A Co-Parenting Plan is a written plan formed by a mediator and the two parents involved. The goal is to arrive at a practical plan that benefits the well-being and care for the child or children concerned. A parenting workbook called, “ It Take Two for Your Child: A Workbook on Parenting Together” is issued which educates divorced or never married parents who are involved in cases mainly filed in the juvenile or family courts of the State, to focus on their children.
The Prayer Breakfast is co-sponsored by Legacy Community Federal Credit Union and The Jimmie Hale Mission.
