My Name is Julia
My Name is Julia- a play written by Kathryn Tucker Wyndham and performed by Carole Armistead, is a story chronicles the life of education and prison reformer Julia Tutwiler. Ms. Tutwiler dedicated her life ensuring that women had an equal chance at education. This project is presented through a grant from the Alabama Humanities Foundation, the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. Pamela Sterne King, professor of Women’s Studies at University of Alabama Birmingham, will lead the public discussion following the program. This event will be interpreted for the deaf.
The Seasoned Performers is a nonprofit company that celebrates the contributions of older adults by producing both original and well-known material, providing performance opportunities for seniors, and bringing live theatre to special and often underserved audiences. We are excited to bring them to the SCAC in 2014!
