Two Sisters Exhibit - Shelby County Arts Council
The Shelby County Arts Council announces the Annual Liberty Day Exhibit- Two Sisters. The featured artists for this year’s exhibit are sisters Sylvia Bentley McDonald and Diane Bentley Ellis. Both ladies are life-long residents of Shelby County and actively involved in the community.
Sisters Diane Bentley Ellis and Sylvia Bentley McDonald have shared a passion for art and craft all their lives. Between them they have experimented in watercolor painting, acrylic painting, oil painting, pastel and pencil drawing, stained glass, pottery, mixed media, glass painting, glass and bottle slumping, jewelry making, knitting, basket weaving, mosaics, and creative sewing. Some of these interests have stuck while others have been left behind.
Currently, Diane is most involved in oil painting. This show will feature watercolor, acrylic, and oil paintings of scenes from her travels and a series of paintings called “Behind the Scene.” Sylvia has settled into wheel thrown and hand-built pottery for the last six years since her retirement from teaching. Presented in “Two Sisters” are examples of her decorative and functional stoneware pottery.
